The five principles of Reiki

Reiki is for everyone.  It’s not voodoo or reserved for the wacky lady with frizzy hair who lives in a space filled with strange religious artifacts. Reiki can (and does) benefit people from all walks of life, all religions, affiliations and ages.

Reiki is a spiritual practice. The spiritual essence of Reiki is the same as all of the world’s spiritual practices: it asks us to be consciously aware of our thoughts, feelings and actions and the choices we make. It asks us to be compassionate to all people.

Many people are familiar with the greeting Namaste which means, I honor the Divine in you, which is also in me. To me, this is also the essence of Reiki.

In order to heal, all we have to do is tap into our own energy in order to help another. When we see and honor the divinity in all people, we recognize that we are all equal. No one is better than anyone else. Everyone is worthy of our love, respect and kindness. Everyone is worthy of healing.

Mikao Usui – the founder of Reiki – the five simple, yet powerful precepts of Reiki.

JUST FOR TODAY

  • Do not be angry
  • Do not worry
  • Be grateful
  • Work diligently
  • Be kind to others

If we can do that – just for today – imagine how much better our lives would be.

Most people come away from a Reiki session with a composure sense of well being and relaxation, saying its like nothing theyve ever experienced before. Many even express feeling more relaxed and centered after a Reiki session than after a full hour of hands-on massage. And one of the best things about Reiki is that you remain fully clothed and oil-free

Thanks for adding that, you're absolutely right. And not only do they feel more relaxed during and immediately after the session, but often times that positive, relaxed feeling can last days after the Reiki treatment.
