Venus – the planet of love and values – went retrograde on October 8, 2010 and remains that way until November 18, 2010. When a planet goes retrograde, it is our orbit around the sun in tandem with their orbit that creates the illusion that they are going backwards in the sky.
Astrology helps us see our own interior growth/soul schedule in the context of our own soul contract as well as how we are embedded in a collective process of fate & destiny. This solar system we are living in is a living energy pattern.
What kind of energy pattern does Venus have? Venus is the goddess of love and rules feeling and emotional relationships as well as all forms of desire (including financial and material desires). She rules romance, partnership and the pursuit of pleasure.
When Venus is retrograde, it provides lessons in evaluating the real worth and value of people and things in our lives. This year, Venus is in Retrograde in Scorpio. What this means is it is a time to go back and take care of unfinished business, particularly to do with relationships – emotional and financial. Jealousy is likely to rear its ugly head as intense passionate emotions are aroused (thanks to Scorpio).
Venus in retrograde is a time when we reassess what and who we value. It is a time to create budgets and financial plans, re-think our personal relationships but not make any decisions in regards to relationships. Don’t take any real action until Venus is out of retrograde.
Now is a good time for re-evaluating our relationship needs; but again, major decisions are best saved for after the cycle ends. People will be more selfish, withdrawn and self-protective at this time. If you’re hoping to mend a relationship or trying to schedule a reunion, now is not the best time to do so.
Venus in Retrograde affects us all differently, depending on what our Sun and Ascending is in our personal birth charts.
