I’m currently in the midst of crafting something good & useful for us empaths…stay tuned! This week’s post is a guest post from Nathan over at A State of Mind. Enjoy!

Everything Starts With Self-Confidence

I recently received a comment on a website I work for. The subject of the article I wrote was related to Google Plus, where I admitted that I have a professional blog, A State of Mind, which I’m planning to add to Google service once they allow professional brands and companies to do so. The comment I received was simple, “I wish you more humility.” It was a comment regarding my statement of owning a professional blog. This comment inspired me to write this article, because the question is – Do I really need more humility?

I wonder — does having pride in or praising the things you create a problem? Or is it to your advantage? Being proud of things you make isn’t wrong. On the contrary, it is a powerful manifestation tool. If you are proud of things you do, then you open yourself for more things to be proud of. Whether you want to launch a new product, learn psychic abilities, or practice some spiritual techniques — everything starts with self-confidence!

The Message You Send

Think about the message you send to the Universe (or God or any other spiritual power you believe in) when you’re not proud of your work; or when you do not praise it; or when you do not wish to admit you’ve done a good job because you’re a victim of a false perspective of yourself. Do you think it’s wrong to be openly proud of things you make? Do you believe that you should keep quiet about the work you’ve done because people around you believe and teach that a good person is a humble person?

Allow me to ask — how can you do anything if you’re not proud of what you’re doing? How can you enjoy things that you do not wish to praise? This is the message that you send to the Universe when you’re not proud of your positive actions: “I’m not good enough to do this, I do not deserve anything in return, I’m weak, I’m not the right person to get the glory and everyone else is better than me.” And you know what? This is how others see you. So in the end, you end up with tons of problems.

Imagine you’re launching a new product. Everyone around you has taught you that you should remain humble because this is what a good person does. So you’re not proud of your work, you don’t praise or promote it.  And you subconsciously tell the Universe  “This product is not good enough for me to be proud of it.” Now, how can people purchase a product that is not good enough, that has this psychic message stored within itself, “I’m not good enough to be proud of, don’t buy me.” Or let’s say that you’re trying to learn psychic abilities (it’s something from my area of expertise). When you don’t believe in yourself enough, then the message is, “I’m not good enough to learn it or to use it — there are better practitioners than me.” Of course in such a case you can forget about learning anything, not to mention using those psychic abilities for any good.

What Matters IsYou

There very well may be “better” practitioners and better products out there. But it doesn’t matter if there is something “better” out there. What really matters is you and your thinking process. You need to be proud of things you create. I’m proud of my website and my book. And I praise both, because I know both my website and my book are great. These are things I’m proud of and I invite people to read them. If I believed that my website or book is worthless, then the book wouldn’t sell; people wouldn’t come to the website. There would be no reason to write the blog. And in the end, it would even further damage my self-confidence.

Everything starts with self-confidence that is powered by you being proud of your achievements.

  • Be proud of the things you create – your products, your website, your art.
  • Take pride in the skills you have and the skills you are learning.

When you have confidence about who you are and what you have to offer, you send the message to the universe, “I like it, I’m good at it, I want to get better.” And the Universe listens.

This concept is quite simple in that it doesn’t require any rituals, meditation, etc. It just requires you to internalize the simple truth: you attract what you think of. If you think about things you’re proud of, you attract more things you can be proud of.

Are you proud of the things you create or goals you achieve?

Nathan, I agree with you 100%. “I like it, I’m good at it, I want to get better” is exactly the way I think of psychic abilities and it can and should apply to every area of anyone’s life who is working on something with purpose.

Lindsay, I loved Psychic Development Simplified. There is so much to it that was totally different from the way I leatned to do things, and it expresses a unique perspective. Can’t wait to hear about what you’re cooking up for empaths :)

Hi everyone. This is a timely message for me as i have just realized for myself how much lack of confidence i have been putting out to the universe without knowing it. I have been an entreprenuer for many years and it is something i love to do. In the past i have had trouble charging for my services and devalued my efforts and skills and only ever made enough profit to pay for the things that i needed in life excluding a savings account for retirement. The discovery has made an instant impact on attracting and i now feel more power within me to offer my services and receive payment for my skills. i look forward to fulfilling my part in life and i am grateful to receive all the abundance that comes with it. I am proud to serve others and offer my skills!
Thank you Nathan and Lindsay for your collaboration of this material :)
A proud promoter of health for all.

Kelly, I think that’s a common problem amongst us who do the kind of work ‘in service’ to others. For a long time I was uncomfortable with discussing the rates for my services and I know I was undercharging (particularly for the Reiki healing). Now I try to view it as an exchange of energy — they are giving me energy in exchange for me giving them some. It helps me with the feelings of guilt. Thank you for commenting. I was just thinking about you the other day and was wondering how you’re doing!

I am all about pride in yourself and your work, but from my experience people generally don’t like boastful or braggard type people.

So while you can be proud on the inside which the Universe will be able to know, I would suggest humility on the outside if you want to be a success.

Ultimately people not the Universe will be the ones to buy your products or services so when in Rome do as the Romans do.

Food for thought.

Very interesting point, Justin. You’re right – there is a fine line between being proud of your word and boastful. Braggards are always a turn off. Thanks for that perspective!

Kelly & Lindsay, and now you two inspired me for another article, thank you.

Justin, one need to find the balance between the light and the dark side of the Force :).
