I’d like to say that I’m daily in awe of the miracles surrounding us, but to be honest I take things for granted quite a bit: the beautiful blue sky, warm rays from the sunshine, the delicious cheesecake I indulged in, each breath I take. Even the love I give and receive: I take that for granted sometimes, too. When we get caught up in the hustle and bustle (and sometimes the doldrums, let’s be honest) of life, it’s easy to forget about the miracle that is life. The miracle that is us.
The exact person you are – born because two gametes met, married and divided; born on the date and time you were, with the DNA structure you have – has about a 1 in 400 trillion chance of existing.
Pretty miraculous, right?
There are two ways to live: You can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle. – Albert Einstein
So for today, I remember the miracle of life and I am expressing gratitude for the life I live, the lives of those I love, the bright sun, the blue sky…and cheesecake.
This post is dedicated to Foster Curtis Baltare – may you always keep the look of awe and wonder in your eyes, the smile in your mornings and the love in your heart.
