The Daily Awe’s 2nd blogiversary & birthday celebration!

Happy 2nd birthday, Daily Awe!

On July 17, 2010 this blog was born in the middle of a spell of boredom. My intention for The Daily Awe was to post something interesting on a daily basis (hence “The Daily Awe”). My primary goal was to share things that made people say “awww” or read in awe. Daily. My creativity is astonishing, no?

Here we are, 2 years later and The Daily Awe has become such a big part of my life that I can hardly imagine where I’d be without it. My life is forever changed thanks to my little space on the web.

Here’s a little-breakdown of how this site has grown over the past 2 years. When I first started, I could count the number of readers on one hand. I’d say it’s come a long way.

  • 185,000 views all-time
  • 518: average number of visitors/day
  • 542: email subscribers
  • 708: Facebook fans
  • 185: articles written and published
  • 20: average number of weekly emails received at with questions & comments

I’ve failed to keep count of how many people I’ve done intuitive readings for, but my guesstimate would be close to 400. In only 1.5 years! (I started doing readings in October 2010).

Today, I turn 32 and my blog turns 2. The Daily Awe’s blogiversary is a great way for me to see how my life has changed in the past year and how the blog has grown, too.

  • Amazing souls I met through this site, people I now call friends. Fellow intuitives, people I’ve done readings for, even people I’ve met here in Toronto thanks to the blog.
  • A part-time job I can pour my heart into. Doing readings has created a second job for me, and it’s a job I love doing. The time I spend doing readings brings me joy and a sense of purpose. I don’t grumble, moan or get miserable like I do with my office job.
  • Open mind and heart. I’ve learned so much about soul growth, spirit guides, what it means to live out your soul purpose. I’ve also learned more about human beings in the past 2 years than I had in 10 years prior. We’re all more alike than you’d think.
  • You can’t please ’em all. Whether you’re talking to a group of 2 people or 2,000, you just can’t please everyone. Don’t even try. Just speak what’s in your heart, let your intuition be your guide. You always meet the right people at the right time.
  • There is no such thing as a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. Even the shitty stuff. Okay, maybe the grocery bag getting a hole in it and spilling your contents doesn’t seem like it has a reason, but it does. Maybe it’s telling you you’re carrying too heavy a load in life. Maybe it’s telling you to slow down. There is meaning in every. little. thing.

I couldn’t end this article without sending a heartfelt thank you to those of you who are reading this. From the bottom of my heart to the top of my soul, thank you. Thank you for reading, commenting and sharing your insights & stories with me. Thank you for your emails of support, encouragement and questions. If I’ve done an intuitive reading for you, thank you for opening your heart and life to me.  No thank you would be complete without giving a gift back to you.

I’m thanking my readers by offering a free intuitive reading to someone who leaves a comment and either tells me what you’d like to see more of on The Daily Awe, or what services you’d like to see me offered. I’ll choose a random commenter at the end of the week! All you have to do is leave a comment on the article for your chance to win a free reading.

If you don’t want to play along but still want to take advantage of some birthday fun, I’m offering 25% off all intuitive readings for one week. When you’re ordering online, there will be a space for you to enter a coupon code. Enter “2birthdays” and you’ll get 25% off!

Contest & discounts end at 11:59 PM on July 24, 2011.

PS – Next week I have a BIG announcement to make with a CONTEST! You won’t want to miss this, so stay tuned!

Lindsay….how do I pick what I would like to see more of here at the daily awe?!?!? I look forward to each post you have! From relationships to empathy to dreams to animal totems, love them all! You know I soak up anything I can read on intuition so I’ll go with that! A big huge congrats on 2 years!!!!!! The daily awe touches many people and just as much as you thank “us” for reading, let me thank you for writing. You have a gift, thank you for sharing it!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:28 pm

Becki, I think doing your reading and reconnecting with you is on my list of “Top 3 best things” about me setting up this blog. I just wanted you to know that! Thank you so much! I look forward to seeing where all of this reading and learning takes you. 🙂

Happy Birthday, Lindsay! It’s amazing to see where life has taken us since the good old days on McBride Street. And you’re right; we do have a lot more in common than I ever thought we would. You are in inspiration to me and many others, I’m sure. I have my Reiki master certification, I just need to get my butt out there and get to work. My tarot/astrology lady says I am a see’er, I just need to practice that, too. Keep writing and sharing and we’ll keep reading! <3

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Congratulations, Reiki Master! That’s AWESOME! Thank you so much for being so supportive. I think you were one of the very first readers and supporters of this blog and I can’t thank you enough!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Judy if I had to think of one good thing that has come out of my time in “The Office”, it would be YOU. Okay and Lumbers, too. Thank you for your support, in and out of the workplace!

anon July 17, 2012 at 11:17 am

Happy birthday to the blog, it’s a neat amalgam of many subjects that are helpful to many. In terms of content there is nothing I see lacking. You did ask for suggestions so I guess here goes: I have seen other blogs that are similar in subject to offer some sort of classes or something (paid service, of course, it’s hard work) to those who perhaps can’t get a reading for whatever reason. Or maybe some people want to take the devolpment of intuition and such to the next level after reading an article you wrote. This is for the DIY types out there..:) Anyway, it probably requires a log of legwork in preparing a ‘syllabus’ or different types of things to guide people on their path. It might be more than you can since you have another job already but it is a thought. This blog is a bright spot on the web, please don’t re arrange the furniture too much, 🙂

This blog is a favorite b.c of the personal tone/approach and it doesn’t seem ‘over worked’ or veering on commercial like some blogs I have followed. That is no mean feat. Also, comments shared tend to be respectful and insightful, and your response to them adds to creating your blog and ‘community’. So, there is the feedback.

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:35 pm

That is AWESOME advice. I especially love the idea of a forum! I will look into that and see what that would involve. Technology and I don’t mix a lot, but I have been a moderator on a board before and would love to have one on this site!

My friend Julie is working on an intuition development course…I think I’ll be advertising that here on the site/sharing it with others once she launches it. The idea of putting one together myself is very daunting, but I’m going to have some time on my hands this winter and I just might take that on as a project!

Thank you for your support!

Brandi July 17, 2012 at 11:39 am

Happy Birthday!!! A good friend recently told me about your site and I am already hooked. I love the down to earth and personal feel to your whole site, and it has become a much needed bright spot in my afternoons! I really can’t see much to be approved on but I would love to see more blogs on spirit guides, and angels. Keep doing what you’re doing, the world needs more people like you!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Please thank your friend on my behalf for sending you my way!

I don’t write enough about angels, I’d love to cover that more. Thank you for your suggestion!

anon July 17, 2012 at 11:42 am

oops-this is to combine with my comment above- I forgot to add- Perhaps creating a blog forum? Or a place commenters could jump in and discuss stuff you write about (like message boards). Another idea, I am not sure how hard or easy it is to set up. Hmn..

Toni July 17, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Happy birthday, LC!!! And big happy birthday to The Daily Awe! I have no suggestions, other than to keep on doing what your doing, because it is working for you. You are living your truth while serving others, and a true inspiration to many. <3

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:39 pm

Toni! Thank you SO much for your kind words. Coming from you, that means a lot to me. <3

Elisabeth July 17, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Happy birthday! I would love to hear more about compassion fatigue and ways that healers and those who help others can stay healthy and motivated to keep fighting the good fight!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:40 pm

THAT is a great idea! It’s now on my list and a topic that’s near & dear to my heart. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced healer burnout myself!

Lilly July 17, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Hey Lindsey! I think your blog is awsome, and I completely enjoy each and every blog/topic you write about! They are very spot on and truly a joy to read. Keep up the great work and your fan base will only continue to grow!!!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:42 pm

Hi Lilly! Thank you very much for your kind words! Do you have a blog or have you thought about it? Not sure why I felt compelled to ask, but there it is!

Kathleen July 17, 2012 at 1:58 pm

Happy birthday and blogiversary, Lindsay. It takes a lot of discipline and determination to keep a blog going! You are living the dream of a life with purpose–congratulations. I like your series on the soul and your writing in general.

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:43 pm

Ohhhh the soul series! That was so much fun to write! I think another series should be in the works!

Jennifer July 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Aww Happy Birthday to you and your blog, Lindsay! I’m so happy for you.. for how far you, your work, and blog have come. It is very inspiring. You really are doing something incredibly special with your life, and it has had a wonderful impact on my life. I couldn’t thank YOU enough. I’ve learned a lot from you sharing your experiences, advice, and knowledge on any and every spiritual topic. I have been considering having a particular reading for quite some time now. Your generous offer is in perfect timing with some events happening in my life.. I will be emailing you soon. 🙂 Love, Jennifer

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Hi Jennifer! Ohhhh sounds like a reading might be in order for you! Or, at least send me an email. I’m curious about these life events. Thank you so much for your support, for reading the blog, and for your love. I’m sending some right back at ya! <3

Billie July 17, 2012 at 3:08 pm

oh… Linds, I’d really like some insight on my “answered prayer”…that is still baffeling me ….. so maybe I’d like to read more of your thoughts and wisdom on “prayers and the meanings of the answers we get to them”… hmmmmm…… 😉

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Awesome idea Billie! I’ve added that one to my “write about this soon” list.

Heather July 17, 2012 at 3:53 pm

First of all Happy Birthday and Happy Blogiversary to you!

I love reading everyone’s comments and hearing how you’ve made a difference in so many lives, it makes me smile.

I always look forward to reading your posts and seeing what insights you have to share with all of us. I can really tell that you put yourself into each post that you write and I think that’s why all of us are so drawn to them. You are honest, generous, thoughtful and brave (and funny too!) and that’s a magical combination.

Here’s a little list of things I’d like to see more of: Crystals, Dreams, Numerology, Communicating with Spirits, and most of all personal stories about you.

Hope you are having an amazing day!!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:46 pm

I’ve had some CRAZY dreams lately (and you know why!)…I think that topic is coming right up on the list! I also love numerology and lately, crystals. Hey Heather…don’t let me forget this: what about you guest post about crystals? You know a whole lot more than me! Up to you.

Thank you for coming into my life and being there for me and the blog almost from the very beginning. I love you!

Cheyenne July 17, 2012 at 4:30 pm

Happy Birthday to you and the blog!! I’m trying to think of something id like to see more of but you seem to cover the bases on that! I love reading about how to get in touch with your guides, soul mates, coins, numbers, etc. I think you just need to keep doing exactly what you’re doing and all will be well!!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Ohhhh the coins is a fantastic idea. That article I wrote about the dimes is the most popular one on the blog! I’ve been finding pennies a lot lately, too. 🙂 Thank you for reading, Cheyenne, and for your support!

Anne McCarroll July 17, 2012 at 4:40 pm

Many happy returns of the day! Happy Birthday to you and the blog! I would love to hear about your Reiki and it’s crossover into your Intuitive/spiritual life – if you are willing to share…(I know Reiki can be a very personal thing).

Have a wonderful celebration of your day! I can’t tell you how much I enjoy reading your weekly entries. Your words are encouraging, uplifting, challenging and soothing…Can’t wait for the next big announcement (you’ve been making a lot lately, haven’t you? 🙂

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:39 pm

Hi Anne!

LOL you’re RIGHT! I HAVE had a lot of announcements lately. Lots going on in Lindsay-land these days, I guess!

I’d love to share my Reiki story. I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet! Thanks for the suggestion. Reiki is what got me here in the first place! <3

Karly July 17, 2012 at 4:47 pm

Oh, Lindsay… you have helped me learn so much about myself in the past six months that I’ve “known” you! It was definitely not an accident that I stumbled upon this blog one day. The reading that you did for me was truly eye-opening. I’m so glad that you were bored one day and decided to start this blog. I look forward to reading your weekly posts and advice and hearing about your experiences. Here’s to another two years for your blog, and many more after that!- and I hope you have a great birthday as well 🙂 <3

p.s. I didn't forget to email you about my 'update', I just work crazy hours, haha. You will hear from me soon! 😉

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Karly, I totally understand the crazy hours thing, so just write me when you can! In the meantime I know you’re okay and happy and that’s what counts!

Thank you so much for your support. Knowing that your reading was helpful to you gives me the energy and desire to keep pluggin’ away and doing it. Without feedback I don’t think I’d have gotten this far!

Jodi Chapman July 17, 2012 at 7:35 pm

Happy birthday and happy anniversary! What a happy day for you!!!

It’s so great to read how your life has changed since starting this blog. I’m so glad that it’s allowing you to move into the life that you want to live. I know that many of us are so grateful that you started this blog 2 years ago. Your sweet energy shines through in each post.

One idea that I thought would be fun would be to offer free readings once a season? Maybe everyone could ask one question and you could answer it right on the blog? That would be a beautiful way to interact with the community. I would love that!

You have created such a soulful space here. Here’s to many more years!

Lindsay July 17, 2012 at 7:50 pm

Hi Jodi!

Awesome idea to do the one question/answer here on the blog. Now THAT would be fun!

I wanted to let you know I am still enjoying the journals I got from you. Thank you very much. And thank you for your kind words. As one of the sweetest people I “know”, that means a lot to me coming from you!

Jodi Chapman July 19, 2012 at 12:22 am

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying your journals!
Sweetness all around! XO

Keni July 17, 2012 at 8:13 pm

Happy Birthday and congrats. I would like to see features on people who have found their way toward enhancing their own intuitive ability. Some thing like ” a person of the week” feature. I am just beginning on the path of learning to follow my own intuition and it would be nice to have inspiration and learn how others have enhanced their lives by listening to their intuition.

Lindsay July 19, 2012 at 5:54 pm

AWESOME idea, Keni! I really like it. Maybe even a podcast interview series…would that be something you’d listen to? Or would you prefer it to be written?

Patti Foy | Lightspirited Being July 17, 2012 at 10:28 pm

Oh, happy birthday, Lindsay! And happy birthday, Daily Awe! So happy for you and lucky us. It’s always fun and interesting every time I pop by here. I don’t have any requests as I have every confidence you will continue to blossom in just the perfect way.

Here’s to another xx years and more xoxoxo’s too! 🙂

♥ Patti

Lindsay July 19, 2012 at 5:53 pm

Patti no matter what you type or where you type it, your warmth, love and light shine through. It’s an honor to know you! Thank you for your sharing your light with the world! And me!

Stacie July 18, 2012 at 2:10 am

Happy Birthday and Blogiversary(if a little belated)!
I like how you are no nonsense, your posts always give me something to think about and dig a little deeper.
Not sure what to suggest for new ideas, but I’ve read several in the previous comments that would be interesting to see you do!

Dylan Lin Calista July 18, 2012 at 10:59 am

Ha! I knew I had to pop by, even if a day late.

Happy birthday to the Daily Awe! And congratulations!!! Healthy looking blog stats you have there 🙂

The best thing that can come out of doing something you love is to enjoy it.

I look forward to many more years of reading from your wonderful site.

Lindsay July 19, 2012 at 5:53 pm

Thank you, Dylan! You are awesome. I am going to add your blog to my blog roll…need to do that ASAP. You have about the coolest website name in history. I look forward to reading more from you, too!

Dylan Lin Calista July 20, 2012 at 11:54 am

YOU are awesome, my friend 🙂 And aww – thank you for that.

I’m still going through changes on my site and I’ll need to add a blog roll, too. I’ll be putting up yours when I add the page. I’m thinking of switching to a 3 column homepage instead of 2. Just trying to organize it 🙂

And I’m flattered to hear you like the name of my site – it’s derived from the phrase ‘Life is an orgasmic experience’…so somehow Lifegasmic made sense to me, lol.

By the way, I posted something about a Facebook past life analysis app and now I’m getting emails about readings. I’ll point people over to your site in case they might be interested in your offerings 🙂

M July 18, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Reading your blog is an absolute *joy*. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself smiling and nodding enthusiastically and saying “YesYesYes!” Your authenticity is so refreshing and appreciated.

I for one would love to read more about your own personal journey along the path of intuition/psychic awareness/abilities. Do you have very early memories? Was there ever anyone in your life who told you that you are straight-up crazy? Do you remember a day that you decided to just go with it?

Thank you, thank you so much for sharing what you have thus far. Your honesty, intelligence and the depth of your insights are such a gift.

Lindsay July 19, 2012 at 5:51 pm

Thank you SO much for that. I’d be happy tos hare more of my personal journey. I always wonder if people want to hear it…I’m willing to share it, but don’t want to be too much about “me”. So your comment helps confirm that for me. Stay tuned – I’ll post it within the next few weeks! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading and for your kind words.

Julie | A Clear Sign July 18, 2012 at 6:45 pm

I’ve already wished you a happy birthday but Happy Blogaversary to The Daily Awe! There is “so much wonderful” coming up for you – so excited to share in your adventures 🙂

Lindsay July 19, 2012 at 5:50 pm

Thank you, Julie! Can’t imagine life without you in it, and I met you through this blog. Crazy, really.

D'Arci Redditt July 19, 2012 at 11:54 pm

Happy Birthday! and to all your hard work creating such a wonderful blog for all of us to read weekly. I don’t typically comments on blogs, but want you to know now that there’s always a feeling of “joy and happiness” while reading yours. Many are very inspiring, too!

I was curious if you knew how many people respond to you about having dream with their guides? And, my guide(s) are actually giving me advice as if in a reading? Is this a common theme for others?

Again, here’s to another great, creative year ahead and many more!

D’Arci Redditt

Lindsay July 21, 2012 at 2:59 pm

Hey D’Arci!

I think having dreams with our guides in them providing us with answers & guidance is fairly common. I have a GREAT story to share that a friend of mine experienced. I think I’ll write about that in the next few weeks! Thanks for the great suggestion!

Keni July 20, 2012 at 8:00 am

I was thinking written but I love the podcast idea. I would definitely listen. Sometimes hearing someone’s voice really enhances the experience by creating a deeper connection.

Hi Lisa!

I’m drawing a name for all of the commenters on this blog post and will be in touch with the winner of the free reading later today! Hope you’re having a good week!

Lisa July 26, 2012 at 8:09 pm

hello there lindsay!

I AM HAVING A FANTASTIC WEEK, and last week too. I attended an Intuitive Reiki class close by, got “reattuned”..and led a guided meditation class Monday.. I am opening up to my True Self, and as of today life is great! I really appreciate all your posts and love your sight. Congrats on awesome baby on the way! I did put in a “prediction” of date, sex, and wt. You have a beautiful eve. Many Blessings.. Lisa

Susan S. July 24, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Hopped over here from Julie/ A Clear Sign, and I’m happy to wish you a happy birthday and a happy blogiversary! I am quite new to your blog and more than excited to read more. In reading several comments, I see that you are Reiki attuned, as am I. And boy did my attunement get my spiritual ball rolling! Just a few weeks after my first attunement, I had a big time spiritual awakening (about 1.5 yrs. ago). These days, working on learning more about energy healing and opening up my intuition. Can’t wait to read more of your entries.

Lindsay July 25, 2012 at 2:17 pm

Hi Susan!

Awesome, so glad to have you here! And thanks to Julie for sending you my way! 🙂 Totally agree with you re: the Reiki opening up your life to spiritual awakening! It really got me on the fast track, that’s for sure! Looking forward to getting to know you!
