Every human being on this earth has a group –or, as I like to call my group, a “posse” – of spirit guides and angels watching over us at any given moment. From the moment you were born, your primary guide was with you; that guide will continue to be there until the day you “cross over”.
Spirit guides – I often tell the people I do readings for – are human souls who haven’t incarnated at this time. They’re just like we are, essentially. They have human thoughts & emotions. In fact, your spirit guide may very well be a soul you have shared a previous life (or lives!) with in the past. When I used to think of spirit guides, I considered mine to be some all-knowing entity who was somehow “above” me. A mystery. Some enchanting, mystical soul – the likes of whom I could never be like. Now I know she’s just kind of like a best friend who is always there and is in no way better or higher than me.
Not all guides stay with us like our primary guide does. And at any given time, we can have a varying number of spirit guides who are with us. It depends on what stage of life we are in and what sort of things are going on in our at the time. For instance, if you are going through a change of any sort, you most likely have a special assignment guide to help you through that time. If you’ve recently lost someone close to you, chances are you have more than your usual number of guides there to comfort you and help you get through the grief.
No matter how many guides you have with you, there’s no doubt about it – they want to be (and have been) in communication with you. Our spirit guides often ‘speak’ to us in ways that we sometimes just overlook. That song on the radio with the message in it that seems just for you. Your fortune cookie “fortune”. Graffiti on a building that you pass every day and never notice, but suddenly catches your attention and speaks to you. It happens every day. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to know if it’s our guides speaking to us or just our imagination.
Establishing a connection with your guide(s) and acknowledging it is a helpful step to getting clearer communications from them. Once you know your guide and feel like you’ve met (even though you already have on a soul level), it’s a little easier to open up the lines of communication and anticipate what sort of guidance you can expect from them. But how do you connect with your guides?
Druid Journal has a fantastic (and free!) meditation that I initially used to try to meet my guides. Others I’ve shared this with have had mixed success. I always tell people to be patient – chances are you won’t get the results you’re hoping for on the first try. I didn’t. The moment you drop the trepidation and expectations is the moment you will relaxed and, most likely, more open to meet your guide(s). You can find the meditation here:
If meditation isn’t for you, why not try talking out loud to your guides? Just do it in private, perhaps! Ask for signs that they’re around or validation that they’re here. It’s not always easy to connect with our guides — sometimes our emotions and expectations can often get in the way. Practice and patience are essential.
If’ you’ve connected with your guides — how do you do it? Share some tips with others here in the comments!
And, (drum roll please)….
I’m now offering readings via telephone (and still through email), for those interested! Each reading will last 45 minutes and afterwards I will provide you with a follow-up write up to highlight the important stuff we’ve talked about. (I know it’s so easy to forget!) Check out my Intuitive Readings page for more information and email me to set up a time for your reading. And for the phone-phobic folks out there, I am still doing email readings, too!
